Policies & Compliance
Student employees and supervisors share responsibility for following Augustana College employment policies and maintaining a professional, lawful, and supportive workplace. The links below provide the current authoritative requirements.
Weekly Work-Hour Limits
Students may hold more than one campus position, but total hours across all positions must remain within applicable limits. Students are responsible for tracking their combined hours. Supervisors are responsible for scheduling appropriately and responding to potential violations. International students must also comply with federal work-hour restrictions.

Federal Work-Study and Employment Eligibility
Federal Work-Study eligibility is determined through financial aid, and not all students qualify. An award does not guarantee a position. When candidates are equally qualified, supervisors may consider students with Federal Work-Study eligibility in support of federal program requirements.
All degree-seeking students enrolled at Augustana College at least half-time (6 credits) are eligible to apply for student employment. Employment is contingent upon maintaining this enrollment status.

Types of Student Employees
Federal Work-Study employee: A student whose financial aid package includes Federal Work-Study eligibility. Federal Work-Study provides funding that allows eligible students to earn money through approved employment. An award does not guarantee a position, and students must apply and be selected for employment.
Non-Federal Work-Study employee: A student who does not receive Federal Work-Study funding but is otherwise eligible for student employment. These students may apply for positions open to the general student population.
Confidentiality
Student employees may have access to private or sensitive information. Supervisors must explain confidentiality requirements and appropriate use of records, files, and systems. Students must protect confidential information and report questions or concerns immediately.

Conduct & Workplace Expectations
Student employees are expected to arrive on time, communicate absences appropriately, follow supervisor instructions and department procedures, treat others with respect, and use workplace technology and resources appropriately. Departments may establish additional expectations that do not conflict with college policy.
